Kindness is a virtue that rewards the giver more than the receiver.

Sheryl May Cajigal-Yadao Mahor added 6 new photos to the album: Kindness. December 20 at 3:26pm · Kindness is a virtue that rewards the giver more than the receiver. God is Perfect and everything has already been given to us. Our belief makes this so. Since we are already whole and complete, there is nothing to add to ourselves anymore. Since our life is full, we need to make room for more Good in our lives. Then the logical thing to do is to give, to express. Our true satisfaction comes from the act of giving because it is then coming from a sense of having. And when one has a sense of having, the cycle is then completed by the act of giving. In giving kindness, we make more room in our lives that is akin to what kindness is. We all make mistakes in our lives. And it is not kind to mock anyone because of the mistakes they have made. Regardless whether these mistakes are admitted or not, kindness is when one realizes that people have their own, individual, and personal journey and that this journey maybe painful for some. Let us be kind as they go through what they need to go through. Afterall, no one is perfect.

Here are 10 simple ways you can increase your brain power and improve your intelligence! The amazing fact about the brain is that no matter how smart or how old you are, you can always increase your intelligence. First, what exactly is intelligence? Intelligence can be defined as the capacity for learning, reasoning, and understanding. It can also be defined as the aptitude one has in grasping truths, facts, and meanings. Or, it can be summed up as the entire faculty of understanding. IQ (Intelligence Quotient) is a measure developed from a series of standardized test to measure and compare intelligence among humans. Having a high IQ doesn’t really mean you’re going to be successful in life, but it certainly can help make certain aspects of life easier – especially when it comes to scholastic activities. Although it was once thought that IQ remained static throughout a person’s adulthood, there is some evidence that people can increase their intelligence quotient. Activities that are healthy for your brain are generally related to helping boost IQ. There are links between IQ scores and: social status, parenting, mortality, and morbidity. Additionally, IQ scores can sometimes predict: job performance, educational advancement, income, whether you commit a crime, and special needs. As a human population, IQ has been rising at an average rate of three points per decade since the 1930’s – this is called “The Flynn effect.” Category Entertainment License Standard YouTube License SHOW LESS COMMENTS • 198 Oscar del Rosario Add a public comment... But when I hear the word miracle, I understand it to mean a miracle in the biblical sense. That's when I start to drift. Reply LARRY LARRY4 months ago +Selinor578 ACIM is a book that attempts to explain what the bible actually meant, including what the word "miracle" actually means. ACIM says the bible is highly misunderstood. And so one of it's goals is to help us to understand some of the ideas the bible presents. So even a biblical miracle, is still nothing more than a change in perception. But you should ask yourself, exactly what is real and what is merely perception. Because perception reaches farther then we.....perceived. Read more Reply 2 Show more

Fascinating Study Shows How Emotions Are Mapped On The Human Body

Previous : Slipping Into The Cosmos Next : Study: Genetically Engineered HIV Vaccine INCREASED Risk of HIV Infection Fascinating Study Shows How Emotions Are Mapped On The Human Body PrintFriendly and PDFPrint Friendly or Save as PDF emotional body map By Michael Forrester Guest Writer for Wake Up World Emotions coordinate our behavior and physiological states during survival-salient events and pleasurable interactions. Even though we are often consciously aware of our current emotional state, such as anger or happiness, the mechanisms giving rise to these subjective sensations have remained largely unresolved. Brilliant research by Finnish scientists has mapped the areas of our body that are experiencing an increase or decrease in sensory activity when we experience a particular emotion. Depending on whether we are happy, sad or angry, we have physiological sensations that are located in different areas of the body. We overlook this reality from one day to the next (the famous “lump in the breast” generated by anxiety, the feeling of warmth that pervades our face and our cheeks particularly when we feel the shame…), and do not consciously realize how much the location of these body areas activated by our emotions and how they vary considerably depending on the nature of the emotion. Researchers around the world are slowly integrating research on how our energetic and emotional states cause health and/or disease. How we connect emotionally to our overall wellness and wellbeing may indeed be more relevant than any supplement, food, exercise, medical intervention or health treatment. Finnish scientists have for the first time mapped areas of the body activated according to each emotion (happiness, sadness, anger, etc). This map was compiled following a study of 700 Finnish, Swedish and Taiwanese volunteers. They used a topographical self-report tool to reveal that different emotional states are associated with topographically distinct and culturally universal bodily sensations; these sensations could underlie conscious emotional experiences. Monitoring the topography of emotion-triggered bodily sensations brings forth a unique tool for emotion research and could even provide a biomarker for emotional disorders. Participants were first asked to watch video sequences associated with different emotions and identify parts of their body where they felt an increase or decrease of bodily sensations. Emotions are often felt in the body, and somatosensory feedback has been proposed to trigger conscious emotional experiences. The resulting map shows that each type of emotion activates a network of specific areas of the body, distinct from those activated by other types of emotions. Every type of emotion carries a specific unique energy and a different vibrational frequency. All organs, tissues, membranes, glands, cells, vibrate in precise frequencies in the human body and they are all influenced by our emotions. Different emotions were consistently associated with statistically separable bodily sensation maps across experiments. These maps were concordant across West European and East Asian samples. Statistical classifiers distinguished emotion-specific activation maps accurately, confirming independence of topographies across emotions. emotional body map - aura - kirilian photography The body map shows emotions such as anger are mainly active in the chest, the lower part of the face and arms, with particular intensity on the hands. On disgust, it activates the body areas which are mainly concentrated around the mouth and throat. As for love, three areas are concerned, the face, chest and lower abdomen. Finally, happiness is probably the most significant emotion that solicits our enitre body to respond, as the study shows that it generates bodily sensations in all areas, especially on the face and chest. The body map identifies areas in which the people experienced increased sensory activity when emotion is felt, but also lists the areas that are home to a decrease in sensory activity. Thus, we learn that the emotions associated with depression have the effect of generating a feeling of decline in sensory activity in the arms and legs. The results obtained by the research show a remarkable consistency in results, suggesting that the mechanisms underlying bodily sensations that we perceive when we experience a particular emotion are likely dictated by energetic patterns and biology rather than culture. The researchers proposed that emotions represented in the somatosensory system are culturally universal categorical somatotopic maps. Perception of these emotion-triggered bodily changes may play a key role in generating consciously felt emotions. This work was published December 31, 2013 in the journal Proceedings of The National Academy of Sciences under the title “Bodily maps of emotions” . Solar Backyard Chicken-Coop Building Plans

Solar Backyard Chicken-Coop Building Plans 4/14/2016 9:48:00 AM By Steve Maxwell Tags: chickens, poultry, chicken coops, building plans, DIY projects, raising livestock, Steve Maxwell, Ontario, Canada We’ve kept chickens on our Manitoulin Island homestead since 2002, and experience has taught me something that no one made clear to me beforehand. When it comes to chicken coops, a handful of smaller, semi-portable coops are better than one large, permanently anchored house. I call this approach “modularity”, and I’ve worked this ideas into some free plans you can download. The big problem with permanent chicken houses is that they’re always troublesome and expensive to build. Lack of flexibility means they offer no chance to reduce or expand flock size, either. You’ve got what you’ve got when it comes to coop size. Keeping chickens in one place in a permanent coop turns that area of your yard into a dusty, vegetation-free wasteland. Permanent coops are also difficult to heat with winter sun – an issue that really matters where I live in Canada. All this is why I’ve come to prefer one or more smaller, semi-portable backyard chicken barns that can be mixed and matched in different ways. We use one to raise day-old chicks, others as production houses for adult birds. Add another house if you want to separate some birds because of disease of bullying. The modular coop I designed is solid and exceptionally warm in winter because of the clear, solar roof, yet also easily ventilated in summer by hinging open the roof. Simple to build, this design can be moved to new locations when needed. Individual modules can be pulled out of production for a time to break pest cycles, and they're easy to clean without standing in poop. Although my solar-heated design looks fancy, it’s really only a box made of 5/8-inch plywood with trim. Nothing this substantial could be easier to build. My design sits on legs that raise the structure off the ground, and there are two reasons for this. First, it keeps the wood of the coop high, dry and away from rot-promoting soil. Raising the height of a chicken house like this also makes it perfect for winter use in areas that get snow. I used 1” diameter galvanized steel pipes for my chicken house legs, but you could also put it on some replaceable 4x4s. The opportunity to collect eggs without opening the chicken door is one advantage of the clear, hinged solar roof. Simply swivel the top upwards, reach down into whatever nesting box you’re using, then retrieve the eggs. You can also replenish feed and water this way, too. Although hens can get in an out of a very small door, having a large door makes it easier to move feed and water in from the side if you want, and move out manure when it’s time to clean the houses. In my design nearly one whole side swings outwards, with no lip above the floor level. Manure and bedding is easy to scrape out. There are more details here than I have space for, but you can download free plans for my chicken barn at BaileyLineRoad.com/chickens. As practical as it is to keep backyard chickens, the real attraction for me is also because these birds are great fun to watch. In a world with too many screens in front of us, it’s refreshing to be entertained by something non-digital for a change. Try it and you’ll understand what they mean by “chicken TV." Baby Ducks Are Way Smarter Than We Thought By Cari Romm baby ducks can juggle multiple abstract concepts at once,

As far as famous science experiments go, this is certainly one of the cutest: In the mid-20th century, the Austrian animal behaviorist Konrad Lorenz spent several years studying geese by pretending to be their mother, leading around lines of baby birds that waddled behind him. Even after they grew into adulthood, his avian research subjects held on to the bonds they’d formed with him in the first moments of their lives. Lorenz, who would go on to win a 1973 Nobel Prize, built much of his career on the study of imprinting — the irreversible process in which newborn ducks and geese identify their mothers by latching on to the very first thing they see. And in a study on ducklings published today in the journal Science, a pair of Oxford researchers shed some light on how it happens: The baby ducks can juggle multiple abstract concepts at once, making them the first animals to demonstrate that level of thinking without any training from humans. As the New York Times reported: First, they took 1-day-old ducklings and exposed them to a pair of moving objects. The two objects were either the same or different in shape or color. Then they exposed each duckling to two entirely new pairs of moving objects. The researchers found that about 70 percent of the ducklings they studied preferred to move toward the pair of objects that had the same shape or color relationship as the first objects they saw. A duckling that was first shown two green spheres, in other words, was more likely to move toward a pair of blue spheres than a mismatched pair of orange and violet spheres. Past research, the Times noted, has found “that other animals, including pigeons, dolphins, honeybees and some primates, can discern same from different,” but all displayed the ability to do so only after being taught. But ducklings, the authors of the Nature study argued, do it naturally from the moment they come into the world. “Even in a seemingly rigid and very rapid form of learning such as filial imprinting, the brain operates with abstract conceptual reasoning, a faculty often assumed to be reserved to highly intelligent organisms.” Broadly speaking, this is one more piece of evidence to suggest we don’t know as much as we think we do about animal intelligence — as study co-author Antone Martinho III told the Times, this conceptual reasoning “is far more necessary to a wider variety of animals’ survival than we previously thought.” Let’s just hope that future research on the subject continues to come with videos of baby ducks chasing things. Current Advice On Getting The Right Life Insurance Life insurance can be very intimidating to someone that has never bought it before. It can easily lead to a bit of information overload because of all of the resources available. Below are some tips to assist you in getting all of this information organized to where you can start buying a good life insurance policy. Be cautious when you see a benefit cap in your health insurance policy. While adding a benefit cap can greatly lower your premiums, it may end up costing you a lot more in the long run. If you have a benefit cap set at $25,000, but have an accident resulting in $75,000 in hospital bills, you will be required to pay the difference. Try to determine for yourself how much life insurance you actually need. Many life insurance providers offer several ways in which they can make their own estimations. They usually over estimate in order to turn a larger profit. Do your own estimating so that you can be sure you aren’t getting ripped off. Careers considered to be dangerous will cause the cost of life insurance to go up. Refrain from scuba diving, skydiving, and bungee jumping to lower your rates. Traveling to risky areas around the world could also make you ineligible for discounts. When choosing life insurance policies, make sure you understand the difference between term and permanent life insurance. Term insurance is good for a set period – once it expires – the insured does not receive benefits. Permanent insurance, while more expensive, accumulates cash value and is guaranteed to stay in force, as long as the policy payments continue. You should protect yourself by understanding the cancellation procedure for your life insurance before signing on the dotted line. If there comes a time in the future that you are no longer happy with your coverage, you want to be able to easily cancel the policy. It’s important to know up front what type of penalties you may incur later. Make sure you are aware of the penalties you will need to pay for choosing to cancel your life insurance policy. Purchasing your funeral plot in advance of your death will help your family save money once you’re gone. Unfortunately, spur-of-the-moment plot purchases bring out the unscrupulous nature of some in the funeral industry, and a plot after death can cost a lot more than a plot purchased well in advance. It’s important that you understand that term life insurance is only for protection and not for investing. There is no savings component in term life insurance, so your best bet here is to simply pay for this type of insurance and invest elsewhere. Your policy payments aren’t collecting interest or anything. People under the age of 50 may want to opt for term life insurance as opposed to whole life insurance. Once you’re 50, the rates are fairly steep and hard to keep up with. Under 50; however, and the term payments are reduced significantly and the policies are much easier to carry. If you need a lot of coverage for a smaller premium, you will probably benefit most from a term life insurance plan. This plan will not build up equity, but will pay out a higher death benefit. They do have an ending date though, thus the title “term life insurance.” Make sure you have other plans in place for when this coverage runs out. When purchasing life insurance, remember that insurance agents make much higher commissions from whole-life policies than they do for term policies. The cost of whole-life insurance is much greater, thus agents are pressured to push you toward buying these policies. If you know that term life insurance is the best deal for you, stick to your guns and resist high-pressure sales tactics–or buy online to avoid them. If you own a lot of land or real estate, think about life insurance. When you die, your family may inherit your property, but they may not be able to afford the taxes that go with it. A good life insurance policy will cover estate taxes, for a certain period of time. Take advantage of your life insurance policy’s grace period. You will have thirty days from the day you started your policy to review and revise anything you need to. After the thirty days your policy becomes static and cannot be changed. Carefully consider your coverage before the time is elapsed. Be careful when considering new life insurance coverage. You don’t want to replace older whole-life policies. You can lose everything you put into them and have to pay big fees on top of that. It is much better to add some term-life in the form of a new policy, in addition to your old one. Decide what you will be doing at the end of your life insurance term. If the end of your policy is coming before you are ready because you did not get a long enough term, get a second policy. There is nothing stopping you from having multiple policies at multiple companies. Educate yourself about life insurance. Not only do you need to determine your own needs, you need to understand general life insurance terms. Learning these things will give you an advantage in researching, and buying, the right insurance for you. The more you learn, the better your experience will be. Before you can effectively shop for the best life insurance rates, you must know how much life insurance you need. The amount of life insurance you need will depend on whether you need to provide college funds for any children or support for a spouse. There are numerous online calculators that can assist you in this task. Hopefully, these tips have provided you with some very valuable information, as well as given you a way to organize all of the thoughts and information you may have already had on life insurance. Keeping these tips in mind when you start looking can help you find the best life insurance policy for you. Follow Us on Facebook Latest Posts download(12) Want Lots Of Dealing With E-mail Marketing? For ladies!

If your only memory of having a bra fitting is your mum shoving you in a Marks and Sparks changing room with a frumpy lady sporting a measuring tape and half moon glasses, it’s definitely time to go again. “But I know my bra size! Don’t send me back to the frumpy lady - she has cold fingers and opens the curtain too quickly, ” we hear you wail. But did you know throughout your life the size and shape of your breasts change? According to experts at Wonderbra it’s vital you’re fitted regularly, especially if you’re trying out a new brand or style. Emily Botham, Wonderbra Fitting Expert says: “It is important to wear the right size bra, not just for comfort and support, but also to give you a better silhouette under your clothes. A correctly fitted bra will give you increased confidence, and you will look and feel great.” “If you’re looking for a more impactful peek of cleavage try a bra with a mixture of gel, foam and air in the cups, like the Full Effect, which will boost your bust by up to 2 cup sizes!” Emily Botham, Wonderbra Fitting Expert. [Photo: Wonderbra] So how do you know if you’re wearing the right bra size? Look out for the following: Straps: should sit firmly on your shoulders and be adjusted to give by a few centimetres but not dig into your skin. Cups: should fully encase your breasts with no overspill. The underwire should sit behind the breast tissue, on the ribs. Back: You should only be able to fit a few fingers underneath the band which should be worn on the loosest fastening as the bra will naturally stretch over time. Identification of animals and plants is an essential skill set February 26, 2016 4.34pm AEDT

I have recently been made abundantly aware of the lack of field skills among biology students, even those who major in ecology. By field skills we mean the ability to identify plants and animals, to recognise invasive species and to observe the impact of processes such as fire on the landscape. My colleague Mike Clarke calls it “ecological illiteracy”, and identifies it as a risk for nature at large. While people spend more times indoors in front of screens, we become less aware of the birds, plants and bugs in our backyards and neighbourhoods. This leads to an alienation of humans from nature that is harmful to our health, our planet and our spirit. On a more practical, academic level, I was in a meeting this week where an industry representative complained that biology graduates are no longer able to identify common plants and animals. This limits their employment prospects and hampers the capacity of society to respond to changes in natural ecosystems predicted by climate change. Field taxonomy vs. Bloom’s taxonomy So what is going on? Why don’t ecology students get this information during the course of their University degrees? Practical sessions teaching scientific names of animals or plants can be perceived to be boring and dry. Students may be asked to collect and pin a range of insects or press and identify certain plants as part of their training in biological diversity, but these activities are time consuming and expensive. As we strive to be more flexible and efficient, classes and assessments relying on identification skills are quickly dropped. Ironically, the dogma that has been so detrimental to field taxonomy is known as Bloom’s taxonomy. University lecturers are told to apply an educational theory developed by Benjamin Bloom, which categorises assessment tasks and learning activities into cognitive domains. In Bloom’s taxonomy, identifying and naming are at the lowest level of cognitive skills and have been systematically excluded from University degrees because they are considered simplistic. The problem is that identifying a plant or insect is not simple at all. Not only do you need to know which features to examine (nuts, leaves, roots, spines, eye stripes or wing venation), you need to adopt a whole vocabulary of terms designed to provide precision in the observation of specific traits. Examining the mouthparts of insects requires knowing the difference between a mandible, maxilla and rostrum. Hairs on a leaf can be described as glaucous, glabrous, or hirsute. Such detail cannot be taught without a student passionate enough to embrace the task and having a passionate mentor who can make the discipline come alive. Photographs are not enough In this digital age some people seem to think that photographs can replace the collection of specimens. I know a bit about crayfish, and where in the past a fisher might show up with an animal in an esky, these days people like to send me a photo and ask what species that was. I cannot identify a crayfish from a photo, nor can I easily explain to an interested amateur how to count the mesal carpal spines. There is a reason that scientists must collect specimens and take them back to the lab or lodge them with a museum. Biological organisms are extremely complex, and the critical feature that distinguishes one from another relies on careful comparison. A recent discovery of a rare kingfisher in Guadalcanal caused controversy in the Washington Post when the researchers photographed, then killed and collected the animal. I understand why they felt they needed to document their finding with a specimen, and I understand the outrage of nature lovers who decry the need for more than a photo. Australian species are poorly known A recent article about the loss of field skills in Britain claims that there is no excuse now that there are so many complete field guides available. The author argues that in the United Kingdom, the golden age of biological recording is over. It is true that in some parts of the world the species have all been named and catalogued, but Australia is not one of those places. Any shake of a shrub will produce un-named insects. Every Bush Blitz expedition discovers new species or new records of known species. Young people need field trips I spent last week in the Victorian alps with biology students from La Trobe University. As part of their research project they needed to identify plants and insects. We had some impressive expertise among our staff, people who knew the Latin names of every plant at first glance. The trick is to transmit that knowledge to the next generation. Accordingly, we made the students tape leaves into their notebooks and write names next to each one. We brought the insects back to the lodge and sat in front of microscopes for hours. Using keys, identification books and each other we were able to describe the particular community at each study site. Some of the students came away excited about different groups of organisms. The excitement of the camp may lead them to spend time away from their desks staring at gum leaves, listening for bird calls or popping bugs in jars for later inspection. I hope that some of them becom obsessed enough to turn themselves into experts, but I also want all young people to have more exposure to nature and all of its parts. Not everyone can spend time in the alps, but everyone can learn the names of the trees in a nearby park. Can you identify the birds calling in your backyard? Do you know the difference between a moth and a butterfly, or between a worm and a grub? Take the time to engage with both the little and big things growing around you and discover the joy of re-connecting with nature. She Grew Up Raising Gorillas, but That Was Many Years Ago. Watch What Happens When They’re Reunited.

A picture is worth a thousand words

— but who decides what those pictures mean and what those words are? In this age of cell phone cameras and easy-to-use point-and-shoots, it’s tempting to believe that the lens does all the work and that the truth will shine through easily, but as this video from Canon shows us, the photographer has more influence than even she or he realizes. A trick of the light, a particular angle and suddenly one man becomes six. Just watch.
