Definition of Veganism:
"Veganism is a way of living which seeks to exclude, as far as is possible and practicable, all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose." (Vegan Society)
Plant-based eaters are welcome, but for clarification purposes, this is a group focused on veganism. Veganism is lifestyle that promotes animal welfare in every aspect; not just dietary.
Rules are as follows:
*** MEMBERS ***
1. Everyone is welcome. This includes interested, transitioning, and transitioned vegans. BE NICE to people no matter what stage they're in. It is possible to educate people and promote veganism without being rude. Remain respectful and encourage one another.
1b. If you are in transition to a vegan lifestyle, questions are great and even encouraged!
Members may get frustrated if someone expresses that they do not plan on becoming vegan, or that they are plant based, vegetarian, pescetarian, etc. and have no intentions of transitioning. This information is best kept to yourself. This is a vegan group focused on animal welfare, not on a "diet," so comments or posts like that may receive some backlash. In order to prevent backlash - refrain from talking negatively about the vegan label or disinterest in becoming vegan.
2. No promoting or condoning of non-vegan practices including the use or consumption of animal products or the exploitation of animals. (I.E. Horseback riding, circuses, aquariums, zoos, backyard eggs, and honey are not vegan.) The comments and/or posts will be deleted.
3. No health or GMO police. This is not a health group.
4. No blocking of admins or moderators. This will result in an instant ban. Disrespect towards the admins or moderators will not be tolerated and can result in a ban with or without warning.
5. There will be disagreements at times. Block the offending member (excluding the admins/moderators) if needed. Debates can be informational, but unnecessary bullying will not be tolerated.
6. Confession posts (admitting of eating or using animal products, or engaging in non-vegan activities) are prohibited, UNLESS the OP is also seeking advice on how to prevent it from happening again.
7. No spinoff or departure posts. If you have a question or concern, tag a mod or admin. Do not create a post with a complaint. It will not be approved.
8. No self promotion (including social media, selfies just to get likes, GoFundMe, donation pages, crowd funding, blogs, shops, trying to sell things... etc.) or promoting of other Facebook groups/pages. No surveys or online questionnaires.
9. If you feel the need to post something with sensitive or violent content - include *CONTENT WARNING* in the post's description. If the thumbnail to the link is graphic, remove the thumbnail (if possible) before posting the link. Please try to avoid posting these types of things in general. It's not exactly necessary in a vegan group.
10. What is posted/discussed in this group stays in this group. If it is discovered that a member has posted screenshots from this group anywhere else, they will be blocked from the group. No second chances.
11. Medical advice is prohibited.
12. In this group: sugar, palm oil, and *may contain* allergy warnings are considered vegan.
13. If you see trolling, bullying, breaking of the rules, or something you feel isn't right - please tag an admin or moderator. We cannot help if we are unaware of what is happening. There is also the "Report to Admin" button available.

A Texas man was wounded after he fired a gun at an armadillo in his yard and the bullet ricocheted back to hit him in his face, the county sheriff said Friday.
Cass County Sheriff Larry Rowe said the man, who was not identified, went outside his home in Marietta, Texas, at around 3 a.m. local time Thursday morning. He spotted the armadillo on his property and opened fire.
"His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo," Rowe said.
The animal's hard shell deflected at least one of three bullets, which then struck the man's jaw, he said.
The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where his jaw was wired shut, according to Rowe.
The status of the animal is unknown.
"We didn't find the armadillo," the sheriff said.

Machines are better than ever at computing large amounts of data but they still can't make meaning of this data, even with machine learning, it'll take some time, definitely more than 50 years with the way things are currently going. Also there are some strong and intelligent advocates against the advancement of AI so early on as a species, we should first understand how to safe guard a technology before introducing it as it may be hazardous, but history has shown that that is rarely the case. Progress can't be stopped, only slowed down, and for our species's sake, I hope we thread the AI situation carefully or this is a road we're going down where there isn't a coming back.

(Suggest Tag) Since Adam and Eve bit on the first temptation, failure has been a part of our human experience. As God’s image bearers, we are capable of remarkable things. But as fallen image bearers, we are simultaneously capable of terrible things. From small mistakes to colossal meltdowns, we are all too familiar with the pain and shame of failure. But, in His grace, God redeems the failures of His people, and He will use them to shape and form our lives.
The Beauty of the Gospel
The human heart craves justification. This is why we make excuses, shift blame, or look for a scapegoat when we have failed. Our natural tendency is to seek personal validation in our successes, securing legitimacy by our accomplishments. So every failed venture—whether a poor grade, a bankruptcy filing, a broken marriage, or simply an embarrassing moment—points out our weakness, foolishness, and imperfection—our lack of righteousness. This ache for justification, for approval in the eyes of others, is the surface rumbling of a deeper ache we have to be approved in the eyes of God. What we really need is the approval, validation, and acceptance of the One who ultimately matters. We need to be justified before God. This is a gift that is ours in the gospel.
“We know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ” (Gal. 2:16). The good news of the gospel is that we can be declared righteous before God through faith in Jesus, apart from our accomplishments and in the face of our ongoing failures. The gospel is a great exchange: Jesus bears all our failures and is condemned so that by faith we might bear His righteousness and be accepted by God. Through faith in Jesus, we are pardoned and adopted as God’s dear children, loved by the Father as much as Jesus is loved by the Father. No success could bestow this status upon us. So when we fail, we need not be shaken at the core. The gospel says more about us than our failures do. The verdict God speaks over us trumps every other verdict spoken over us by our voices or the voices of others. God uses our failures to wean us off self-righteousness and point us to Jesus, in whom we find a righteousness that is sufficient for our confidence, value, and unshakable joy. In Christ, the power of God’s saving and justifying love can wash away the shame and self-loathing of our sin and failure. The Idols of Our Hearts
In a 2016 article in The Atlantic titled “The Dark Side of Going for Gold,” authors John Florio and Ouisie Shapiro detail the depression that many athletes experience after competing in the Olympics. Many Olympians wrap up their identity in the pursuit of the gold medal. The authors cite an interview with swimmer Mark Spitz during the 1972 Games as he was going for seven gold medals. Spitz said, “If I swim six and win six, I’ll be a hero. If I swim seven and win six, I’ll be a failure.” His meaning and significance were dependent upon attaining a perfect record. He was in bondage to his performance. How we define failure, and the failures we most fear, reveal what we are building our identity on. They show that we are looking to something other than God’s love and acceptance in Christ to give legitimacy and purpose to our lives.
Our fears also reveal what we prize in our hearts. The Apostle Paul testified in Philippians 3:8, “I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ.” The Lord Jesus was Paul’s ultimate prize. Jesus was the one thing worth losing all things to have. This is why Paul could lose everything and still rejoice. Paul had ordered his loves rightly, valuing supremely what was supremely valuable. His great aim was to know, love, serve, and become like Jesus. This is the greatest endeavor of the human heart. In this way, the ultimate success is to know, love, serve and become like Him; not doing so is the ultimate failure. So when the business folds, the relationship falls apart, or your parenting blueprints don’t work, you can grieve the failure but not be undone by it. Loss is painful, but the things we lose are not our ultimate prize and aim. We have Christ, the surpassing value, the pearl of great price, and He is enough.
The Hunger for Final Redemption
If we are in Christ, a glorious future awaits us. Our sins, suffering, and ultimately death are glaring reminders of the reality of our failure. But in the end, in the twinkling of an eye, we will be raised to indestructible life and be rid of shame forever (1 Cor. 15:42–56). One day, we will be glorified, finally free from sin, suffering, failure, and frailty (Rom. 8:18–23). We will shine like the sun in the kingdom of our Father (Matt. 13:43), and we will rule and reign with Christ in the new heavens and new earth (Rom. 8:17). Unending joy, beauty, and perfection await us. But this is not that day. We still fail and fall and do ugly things, all of which remind us that we are not what we one day will become. If we steward the pain of our failure, a holy longing for glory will be awakened in our hearts that will fuel greater faithfulness and passion for the kingdom of God to come. In the end, failure will fail, and we will reign. So, we say with the Apostle John, “Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!”

This group has been set up to assist people who have a serious interest in saving, bailing, adopting, rescuing or helping equines in kill pens and bad situations. Please be aware that with each horse that comes from a kill pen, limited knowledge is available about their actual age and health condition. The only real guarantee you will have is that whatever horse you rescue will love you for saving him or her.
We are looking for LOCAL (TX, LA, OK, AR, MS, FL) horse people (although we do approve some further) who can either offer a loving home, are willing to donate for horses to get potential homes, or can assist in some other way to help them. All homes will be vetted and will sign an agreement that states The horse(s) will be maintained and cared for under the agreement and will be re-homed by Southern States Equine Savers if at any time the requirements listed cannot be met. Homes offers must contribute no less than 30% of the horses price on the horse, and cover QT and transport. The horse's bail to be fundraised for cannot be more than $950. Please be aware that at some Kill Pens, Coggins and Health Certs will add to your financial commitment to the horse. All Homes MUST provide Vet and Farrier references and photos of area where horse will be homed. We also seek to assist local rescues in sharing, adopting, homing, and donating to their efforts.
